This Bishkek map features a collection of my recommendations for the best hostels and hotels in Bishkek for travelers of all budgets!
Additionally, there are so many fun things to do in Bishkek, most of which are featured on my Bishkek map!
Best Areas to Stay in Bishkek
Bishkek City Center
The cultural heart of Kyrgyzstan’s capital city
Most travelers who visit Bishkek gravitate towards the city center, which features many of Bishkek’s attractions including Ala Too Square and the State History Museum.

In Bishkek’s city center, you’ll find many luxury hotels including Sheraton, Orion Hotel, and Novotel Bishkek.
Sheraton, the tallest building in Bishkek which features stunning suites and a breathtaking rooftop lounge (IWA Restaurant and Lounge) is my TOP recommendation for bougie travelers wanting a luxury accommodation in Bishkek.
West Bishkek, Near Osh Bazaar
A budget backpacker’s cultural paradise
Budget-conscious travelers wanting to experience the cultural offerings of Kyrgyzstan’s capital city while sticking to tight budgets will enjoy staying west of the city center near Osh Bazaar.

This lively region of the city, home of Bishkek’s most noteworthy bazaar, offers travelers a glimpse into the less-polished, more local side of Kyrgyzstan.
West Bishkek has a collection of local hostels and guesthouses, perfect for travelers who don’t want to stretch their budgets. My personal favorite is Hotel Koisha, a great space to meet like-minded adventurous travelers and book activities in and outside of Bishkek!
East Bishkek, Near Victory Square
A modern, residential area near breathtaking monuments
Just steps away from Ala Too Square and the Kyrgyz State History Museum – east of the bustling city center – is a quieter, less-touristy part of the capital city.

East Bishkek’s proximity to Victory Square and many of the capital’s local malls makes it the perfect place to stay for travelers hoping to escape the hustle-and-bustle of Bishkek city center.
With its perfectly balanced blend of historical sites and modern architecture, East Bishkek is both convenient and calm – perfect for travelers who want to be near Bishkek’s top things to do, but experience a local side of the city.
My favorite accommodation in East Bishkek is Smart Hotel, an upscale but affordable four-star hotel just ten minutes from Ala Too Square.
North Bishkek
An off-the-beaten path area with close access to bus stations
North Bishkek is less about cultural charm and Soviet-style architectural wonders, and more about function.
Like it? Pin it!
Kyrgyzstan doesn’t have to be just a dream destination. Make it a reality by manifesting with a pin to your travel inspirations boards!

There are many affordable accommodations in North Bishkek including my personal favorite, Apple Hostel.
While you won’t find tourist attractions or trendy restaurants, North Bishkek is a great place for travelers seeking budget-friendly accommodation. Conveniently located near the north bus station, this area of Bishkek is perfect for travelers “just passing through”.
Types of Accommodation in Bishkek

Yurts
One of the most recognized symbol of Kyrgyzstan is the traditional yurt – a circular abode constructed with an intricate wooden lattice, that even appears on the national flag.
When you venture beyond Bishkek you’ll have many opportunities to stay in a yurt camp. The State History Museum has a beautiful display of a traditional yurt for travelers just passing through the capital city.

Hostels
Hostels are the perfect place for budget-conscious travelers hoping to immerse themselves in the local culture without breaking the bank.
Bishkek has many budget-friendly, dorm-style accommodations – the perfect place to meet other adventurous travelers!
My favorite hostel in Bishkek is Apple Hostel. Offering travelers a variety of unforgettable cultural experiences, such as horseback riding to Song Kul lake (one of the most popular things to do in Kyrgyzstan!), Apple Hostel makes planning a trip to Kyrgyzstan easy!
Traveling solo? You will never feel alone when you stay in a hostel, whether in Kyrgyzstan or elsewhere! The social atmosphere of hostels and other budget-friendly accommodations welcomes many young travelers (“broke backpackers”) from around the world.
Guesthouses/Apartment Rentals
Not many travel destinations offer the chance to experience a homestay with a local family, so I recommend staying in at least one guesthouse when you visit Kyrgyzstan!
Guesthouses are the ultimate way to immerse yourself in the Kyrgyz culture. Some of my favorite memories from Kyrgyzstan were the joyful conversations and shared laughs around the dinner table at local guesthouses!
There are a variety of guesthouses and local apartment rentals available on Booking.com. My personal favorite guesthouse in Bishkek is called Silk Road Guesthouse.
Hotels
There’s no shortage of hotels in Bishkek for every budget!
Offering travelers a more traditional accommodation experience, hotels are perfect for travelers who want to enjoy the quiet peace of their own room.
My recommendations for the best hotels in Bishkek for all budgets are below!

Orion Hotel is another five-star gem near the city center. With lavish rooms and a luxury spa, Orion Hotel is the perfect hotel for bougie travelers.
Novotel Bishkek
Featuring modern, upscale rooms, Novotel Bishkek is the perfect five-star accommodation for travelers seeking comfort and convenience. Located in the city center, it offers easy access to Ala-Too Square and Bishkek’s top attractions, along with amenities like a spa, fitness center, and a restaurant.
Best Hostels in Bishkek
Apple Hostel
The ultimate “broke backpackers” hub is Apple Hostel, located near the Osh Bazaar.
Providing travelers with dorm-style accommodation and plenty of community spaces to meet other adventurers, Apple Hostel is my top recommendation for travelers hoping to explore Kyrgyzstan with other adventurers. Apple Hostel also offers a variety of cultural experiences in and outside of Bishkek including a multi-day horse trek to Song Kul lake!
Aiva Hostel
If you’re looking for a centrally located hostel walking distance from major Bishkek tourist attractions, Aiva Hostel is the perfect budget-friendly accommodation. The hostel offers clean, comfortable dorms and private rooms, a shared kitchen, and a friendly atmosphere that makes it easy to meet other travelers.
Compass Hostel
If you’re still unsure about where to stay in Bishkek, let Compass Hostel be your guide. This centrally located budget accommodation in Bishkek is only a 25 minute walk from Ala Too Square and other tourist sites in the city.
When to Visit Kyrgyzstan

With rolling green hills speckled with vibrant Central Asian wildflowers, spring and summer are two of the most beautiful seasons to visit Kyrgyzstan.
If you’re planning on horseback riding in Kyrgyzstan over high-elevation mountain passes or to unforgettable cerulean alpine lakes, summer is the best time to visit.

While many hikers and horseback riders visit Kyrgyzstan during the spring and summer seasons, Kyrgyzstan is up-and-coming for its winter powder! Just outside the eastern city of Karakol are a plethora of local ski resorts – the perfect winter getaway for travelers hoping to hit the slopes!
Depending on your travel style and your vacation plans, Kyrgyzstan will welcome you during any season!
